National seminar on Applications of Signal and Image Processing (ASIP’11)


    Department of Electronics and Communication Engineering organized one day National seminar on Applications of Signal and Image Processing, on 09th February 2011 at main auditorium.

    Shri.A.Srinivasan, Chairman , Dhanalakshmi Srinivasan Group of Institutions presides over the function in presence of Shri.P.Neelaraj , Secretary, Dhanalakshmi Srinivasan Group of Institutions and Shri.S.Kathiravan, Vice-Chairman, Dhanalakshmi Srinivasan Group of Institutions.

    Dr.S.Charles, Principal, Dhanalakshmi Srinivasan Engineering college felicitates in presence of Prof. S.Nandakumar , Vice Principal, Prof.V.Sekar, Dean (Academic) and Dr.Karthikeyan.

    Dr.G.Balakrishnan, Managing Director, Indra Ganesan College of Engineering, Trichy and Dr.Latha Parthiban, Professor, Dept.of CSE, SSN College of Engineering, Chennai were the chief guests of the seminar.

    Seminar was attended by 35 faculty members and students from various engineering colleges of India.

    Prof.M.Kalpana, HOD/ECE, welcomed the gathering and Mr.D.Karthikeyan, Lecturer/ECE introduced the chief guest to the audience.

    During his speech, Dr.S.Charles, advocates the innovations in electronics field by comparing the origin of latest technology in view of the comfort of consumers.

    Dr.G.Balakrishnan gave lecture on applications of Image Processing in lucid manner. His lecture covered the basics of Image Processing, various tools and methods used to process the image and wide range of real time applications.

    In the afternoon session, Prof.V.Ravichandran introduced Dr.Latha Parthiban to the audience.

    Dr.Latha Parthiban, in her lecture, took four practical applications and explained from their scratch to the final design. She also discussed about various research avenues in the signal and image processing field.

    Mr.R.Ilayaraja, Lecturer/ECE, welcomed the gathering for valedictory function. Dr.Karthikeyan and Dr.Latha Parthiban distributed certificates to the participants. Ms.V.Vinodini, Lecturer/ECE, delivered vote of thanks.

    Seminar concluded with the recite of National Anthem.
