The Event National Seminar on Applications of Signal and Image Processing (ASIP’11) was organized by Department of Electronics and Communication Engineering jointly with IEEE students chapter at Dhanalakshmi Srinivasan Engineering College, Perambalur on 09 February 2011.The Spacious and elegant College Auditorium was the venue. The motive of the Seminar is to create live opportunities for Industrialists, Scientists, Engineers, Technocrats, Research Scholars and students to discuss and formulate some innovative ideas and research directions in the fast moving world of communication Technology.

The function was presided by Shri.A.Srinivasan, Founder & Chairman, Dhanalakshmi Srinivasan Group of Institutions and Secretary Shri.P.Neelraj, Vice Chairman Er.S.Kathiravan, Trustee Members Mr.P.Mani, Mr.P.RajaBoopathy, Chief Finance Officer Mr.R.Rajasekar were given their gracious presence during the function.

Professor and Head, Department of ECE, Ms.M.Kalpana welcomed the gathering. Mr.D.Karthikeyan,Lecturer introduced the chief guest and his innovative research works and academic contributions both in India and Malaysia, to the gathering. The Chief Guest Dr.G.Balakrishnan, Director, Indra Ganesan College of Engineering, Tiruchirappalli, inaugurated the seminar. In his inaugural address he pointed out there are some enormous developments in the image processing field one of which the Photofilms in nowadays were outdated completely from this field which plays the key role in the same industry some years ago. He asked the participants and all to get well developed in these areas by utilizing this seminar as a platform to enrich and share their ideas and innovations and lot of employment opportunities were awaiting for you in the future.

Dr.S.Charles - Principal, Professor S.Nandha Kumar - Vice Principal, Dr.B.Karthikeyan - Principal(Designated), Professor V.Sekar – Dean(Academic and Placement) were felicitated the gathering. Dr.Latha Parthiban, Professor, Department of Computer Science and Engineering, SSN College of Engineering, Chennai engaged technical session in the afternoon delivered lecture and training for the participants especially using Matlab.

 The seminar  had given a wide coverage in the fundamentals of Signal and Image processing, Usage of MATLAB toolboxes, real time applications and recent developments and future challenges in this area. There was intense interaction in the seminar among the guest and participants and it proved a good opportunity for the participants to acquire knowledge on the various developments in the emerging applications of signal and image processing areas with a view to chalking out course of action for the future. More than 50 participants from various industries, institutions were participated in the seminar. The seminar came to a formal closure with vote of thanks from Lecturer V.Vinodhini and with  National Anthem.
