Biomedical Engineering

Biomedical Engineering is a field of engineering distinguished by a basic understanding of biological and medical science. The health care industry is growing steadily and the concern for human health and welfare is greater each year and hence Biomedical Engineering is booming and is a challenging, stimulating and diverse field of professional endeavor. The industrial revolution changed forever the way the world worked and the biotechnological revolution has changed the way the world communicates, and this revolution indeed promises to change the way the world lives. A life wholly free of devastating diseases may be achievable by the end of the century and biomedical engineers will guide us into this next incredible era. Biomedical Engineering primarily focuses on applying engineering, computational and analytic techniques to biological systems from the nanoscale level of DNA to the macroscopic level of organ systems.

The Biomedical Engineering program of our college actively participates in this growing field through a comprehensive program of theory and supporting lab classes. The program emphasizes a balance between theory and practical applications, and provides the student with a range of career alternatives upon graduation including medical field, higher studies and employment. Internships are also available to undergraduates to help in making important career decisions through Memorandum of Understanding signed with nearby hospitals.
